1796     25¢     NCS Fine Details     $15,500.00     Obverse Reverse B-1. Rarity-5+. This rare variety is closer to VF with respect to details. There is some uneven wear resulting in weakness of definition around the “96" of the date. Although the holder indicates that the coin was "bent," it looks more like a small hit on the reverse that cuased the uneveness. Attractive shades of golden-gray toning bathe both sides. Despite the aforementioned problem, the overall appearance remains quite acceptable, and the surfaces are actually nicer than most survivors of this rare and highly collectible one year type coin.

Although a few left obverse stars are not fully struck, the coin is better struck than most seen. Some light obverse hairlines account for the grade.

1821     25¢     PCGS AU-53     $3,250.00     B-3, R.2. A hint of light gray toning on an otherwise brilliant Bust quarter adds to its attractiveness. Luster dominates the borders. Late dies with a bold crack through star 12 and clashed arrowheads near stars 8 and 9.
