This 1870 piece comes from the middle years of the denomination, and the issue's production of only 3,500 pieces is consistent with the pattern of low mintages. The honey-gold fields offer distinct reflectivity with a touch of haze at the margins, and the devices are well-defined overall. Highly attractive. This coin is tied for highest grade by PCGS with one other. No others are graded higher by either services.
